Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies
I have been baking these cookies for a while now, and everyone loves them. I found the original recipe on Lovin’ From the Oven. I made few adjustments to the original recipe. Here is the recipe with the adjustments I made:
1 Cup of butter
6 Tablespoons of sugar
6 Tablespoons of brown sugar
2 Eggs
1 Teaspoon of vanilla
1 Teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 Teaspoon of salt
8 broken Oreos
1 ¼ Cup flour1 Cup of Chocolate chips
Method
Cream the butter, add the sugar mix until combined well. Add the eggs, combine, add the vanilla. In another bowl stir the baking soda and salt in the flour. add to the butter mix and combine. Stir in the chocolate chips and Oreo.
Scoop out medium sized scoops using an ice cream scooper or a cookie dough scooper and line on baking sheets. Bake for 10 minutes or until the edges are golden in a pre heated 350 degrees oven . Let them rest for few minutes before you move them. Let them cool completely if you plan to store them. Have them with a glass of milk.
It’s not enough anymore for people of color and members of the LGBT community to be presented as the Special Guests, or the (x) Friends of the Host, or the Supporting Players. There’s more than enough proof online that our experiences as fans are not automatically divorced from our experiences as members of minority groups, and that there’s many of us looking for more safe spaces in which to discuss them. If some geeks of color don’t want to discuss sensitive topics, that’s fine; that doesn’t mean none of us ever should.
Because while it’s all too easy for people to distance themselves from those racist Hunger Games fans, those viewpoints don’t appear out of thin air, either.
When woman-oriented sites like The Mary Sue don’t report on Issa Rae getting assailed by racist tweeters after winning an industry award, that contributes to the problem. When a sci-fi heavy site like IO9 is content to let Jezebel report on the Games controversy, that contributes to the problem. When Marvel Comics would rather publish stories about the umpteenth version of Dark Avengers than about a group of black Avengers, that contributes to the problem. And when only 11 percent of someone’s YouTube channel talent is made up of people who are not white, that contributes to the problem. Unintentional marginalization is still marginalization.
We are way past the time when Day or Hardwick–or any party wanting to bill itself as a representative of geekdom–can hide behind the explanation that “we couldn’t find anyone” or couldn’t spot content online that might deliver a more inclusive version of geekdom to viewers. Does Hannibal Tabu need to wear Sith t-shirts? What does it say about gaming and that fandom when gamers who aren’t hetero white cis males are made to feel like they should hide their identities? Should the folks at The Border House start podcasting in Klingon to get consideration for a shot in one of these channels?
The near-dogmatic focus on “staying positive”–code for avoiding the topic entirely–does no one any good when it’s just Cheryl Lynn Eaton pointing out that Marvel Comics currently has no black writers while sites like Newsarama and Comic Book Resources keep quiet. That silence, intentional or not, sends the same kind of message to our subcultures as it does to the world at large…
"Arturo García may have lost a few friends over this, but he went hard on geekdom’s almost self-perpetuating whiteness on the R today.
Reading his post I felt all like this:

Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Cupcakes with Vanilla Bean Frosting
This recipe was inspired by one of my favorite treats, dark chocolate bars with little grains of sea salt in them. Because dark chocolate is not terribly sweet, the sea salt adds a warm tang to the chocolate, emphasizing the subtle sweetness for a tasty dessert.

Drop “Arrest Grandma” Act!
Sponsored by Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, nicknamed the “Arrest Grandma” Act, would make it a crime for anyone but a parent to go with a minor outside of her home state to get an abortion.
The doctor performing the abortion could serve up to a year in jail.
Amendments were going to be added to it to make exceptions for rape and incest, health threats, or other family members such as grandparents or older siblings going with her, but they were all rejected.
This bill is a violation of women’s rights, blatantly ignoring the girl’s health and well-being.
Many individuals cannot turn to their parents in these situations. Some are in abusive homes. They have the right to have whoever they want accompany them. These young women should not be forced into unsafe or undesirable situations in order to make decisions about their bodies.
Please tell Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen to drop this bill!

When I was 16, a friend of mine became pregnant.
She was only 16 as well. She had been told by doctors that she was infertile, and her and her boyfriend had been using condoms, but she managed to get pregnant anyway.
She came to me.
I honestly don’t know why. She knew me well enough to know that I’m deeply religious and generally pro-life.
But she needed someone to talk to, and she came to me. I’m so glad she did.
We talked about her options. She wasn’t ready to raise a child. Thankfully, she realized this. She was so young, and had many demons to battle - some of which she’s still battling today at 21. No baby would have had a healthy start with her as its mom.
Adoption, unfortunately, was out of the question. Not because she was opposed to it - but her mom had some very old-fashioned ideas about sex. Her mom was abusive. If she’d had to tell her she was pregnant, she would, at best, have been kicked out of her home. At worst, her mother would have beaten her to death. That kind of reaction would not have surprised me in the least - her mom was battling many demons as well, many of which were caused by the child she had so young.
That left abortion. This, I think, is why she came to me. She knew, somehow, deep down, that many many people believe abortion to be murder. She didn’t want to make that choice. But she quite literally didn’t have another option. She came to the person she knew was truly religious, because if I said getting an abortion was okay, then it would be okay.
I told her she should get the abortion. I helped her contact the local hospital and set the date and arrange transportation with a friend.
On a Tuesday afternoon, while I was at a retreat, she went to the hospital and had an abortion. We’ve never talked about it since.
I always wondered if I did the right thing. I know, according to my church, that it is a sin - one of the highest. Strictly speaking, I’d excommunicated myself, and would not welcomed back into the church until I made a full confession with the archbishop.
When I confessed it to a priest, that Wednesday night, he hesitated. He was supposed to inform me of my excommunication. He told me that abortion was a serious sin. By this point, I was absolutely hysterical, sobbing uncontrollably. He sighed deeply and gave me full absolution. I’m so glad he did.
I am pro-life. I believe that the fetus killed that day was a baby, was alive. I have offered, and continued to offer, countless prayers for this baby, whose life ended because of the choice I made, and the choice her mother made. Candles have burned in churches across Nova Scotia and in France, Italy, and Monaco, burning with prayers for that child. I pray that Mama Mary takes care of her, since we couldn’t, and that she can find it in her little heart to forgive her mother and I. I hope she has.
But I know I did the right thing. And I’d do it again. There were a million and one factors that led to that abortion. I swear to do everything in my power to remove as many of them as possible, for as long as I live, in memory of that little girl. But her mother was just a girl, too. And she could not be pregnant. Her life didn’t allow it.
Sometimes, no matter how religious you are, no matter how much you love someone, no matter how deeply you believe in any faith, abortion is necessary. And in those situations, it’s important - so important - that women are free to get the abortions they need. No one else can make that decision for them. Others will have a major influence on their choice, to be sure. But to block that choice is to eliminate what is sometimes, simply, a necessity. It is, in my humble opinion, inherently anti-Christian. I think that priest knew too, when he gave me forgiveness. We all need to realize that abortion, whether you think it’s the easiest choice in the world or the hardest, needs to remain exactly that - a choice.
That was a really strong and moving read.
Seconding what pageofheart said.

experimenting with night colors today i guess? and a new brush that is actually supposed to be used for inking! only i scribbled over everything with it anyways, i really enjoy scribbling.
anyways, these are two-
thirds of an ot3young avengers, definitely not hanging out in any way. i have a vague idea that tommy annoys the crap out of eli, casually showing up in the same places to annoy him, casually following him around the hq as eli gets actual work done to annoy him, secretly reading the nerdy books eli talks about just so he can form really annoying opinions about them and then claim he just “saw the movie”. not because he’s lonely and bored, OBVIOUSLY. tommy has a lot of time on his hands, and eli has a lot of loosening up to do okay, he is doing the team a favor. eli is infuriated when people start giving him messages to pass on “when you see tommy” as though he is going to willingly talk to tommy, and calls tommy at least three times whenever he receives one, once to pass it on and twice to complain about it.That… is pretty much my head canon for these two. (Also, yay for OT3 shout outs XD)
